Committee
Welcome in the York
University Erasmus Socity!

Maarten Van Schaik : President
Hiya! My name is Maarten,
and I am this years' Erasmus Soc president. I arrived in York in
2008 as part of an Erasmus Exchange with Utrecht University and
well… I am still here! York turned out to be a great place to study
(Lucile can vouch for this), so I decided to do the rest of my
History degree here. Last year I met an aweful lot of new people
from all over Europe and the rest world, and I would say the
possibility to make loads of friends from every corner of Europe is
one of the best things about our society.
As president, my aim for this year is pretty simple - to make
sure all Erasmus students have the best time of their life in York.
We will do everything on our side to try and make this happen, and
I cannot wait to get to meet you all.
Apart from my studies and the Erasmus Soc, I like to play sports
and socialise in pubs and I will definitely try to organize some
events that will include both. If you have got any questions, want
to meet up for a cup of coffee (please do!) and a chat or if just
want some information, please feel free to contact me!
Ciao, Maarten

Lucile Crété : Treasurer
Hi, here I am, Lucile, a survivor of the Erasmus
program! I came to York in 2008/09 from Tours in France to complete
my third year of History and Archaeology, and I chose afterwards to
never leave England! I decided to join the Erasmus Soc committee
this year because I had the greatest moments ever last year with
this society and I met there a lot of amazing people, old committee
included. I hope we will be able to create again such a friendly
environment for incoming students! This year, I will be dealing
with the budget for socials and events, but I will also try to plan
several day or week end trips through the year. I will also be
there as a social representative to meet all of you during our
weekly socials! I can't wait to meet you guys! Xx Lucile

Pedro Ribeiro : Webmaster

Hi, I'm Pedro. I'm a Portuguese third
year Computer Systems and Software Engineering student. Before
coming to York I completed the European Baccalaureate in Belgium.
As an overseas student, I felt the need to be involved with other
students who have had similar experiences, so I joined the Erasmus
Society. In addition, I decided to apply my knowledge to produce
this wonderful, strict XHTML 1.0 website for the Erasmus
Society. Feel free to validate it. Apart from that I use my
persuasion skills to convince undecided people to adhere to the
ErasmusSoc events. All in all, a great time.

Josepha Horne: Welfare Officer

Hi, I'm Josepha. I study English Litterature and History. My role
in the society is to help anyone with any problems they might
encounter during their time at York and also to help organise trips
and socials.
I really enjoyed my Erasmus term in Rome last year , and would
love all you guys to be able to get as much out of your Erasmus
experience as I did! J I look forward to meeting you all!!
Indre Kasperaityte: Social Rep

I am Indre from Vilnius, Lithuania and now I'm starting my
second year at York University. Although I am not an Erasmus
student and I will never be one, I hope that joining this society
will give me at least a bit of this experience.
I find it really hard to describe myself, as my mood and my mind
changes all the time. I am very much into everything from knitting,
cooking, reading and facebooking to singing, dancing, clubbing,
traveling and so on. Therefore, I guess I would have something in
common with everyone I meet. I am really looking forward for the
year to start because I am sure we will have a great time this
year!!! xoxo
