Switzerland
Examples of universities in Switzerland
in which you could go as a visiting student:
* Université de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland (English,
NOT ERASMUS)

Lausanne is a very nice city in the
French-speaking part of Switzerland. It is surrounded by mountains
and a beautiful lake, where one can do sports during the whole
year. Lausanne University (Université de Lausanne) is very
close to the city and it has got a wonderful campus. Unlike York
students, Swiss students do not live on campus, but they usually
share flats with other students, either in the city itself or
in the villages close to the university. The university has 11'000
students coming from the whole Switzerland; many of them are
Italian speakers and Germans speakers.
The year is divided in two semesters: mid-September to
end-January, and mid-February to beginning of July. The cost of
living is not that different from the English one, and it is around
1200 Euros per month (1800 CHF) including school books and leisure.
The courses are taught mostly in French, except from some
scientific subjects and foreign literatures (the English
Department, among others, is a very good one, also for English
standards).
There is also a big sport centre in the university, and a large
number of sports and winter camps to go skiing and snowboarding are
organized.
Student life is very active in Lausanne, including clubbing and
music festivals, and the Erasmus society organizes many tours and
week end trips to discover Switzerland and its beauties.
I'd be eager to give you additional pieces of information and to
answer any kind of questions about the University and student life
in Switzerland.
